Adopt-a-School Foundation is transforming three mud schools in KwaZulu-Natal as part of the Department of Basic Education’s Accelerated School Infrastructure Development Initiative. Infrastructure is underway in two schools and the interventions for the third school are in design phase. This project began in May 2014 and the Foundation is currently building classrooms, two multimedia centres, two nutrition centres, two science laboratories, a Grade R facility and an administration centre. The Foundation has conducted reticulation in all of the schools to ensure access to running water. The project has already created over 150 temporary job opportunities for the local community in the Amajuba district.
