The happiest 5K on earth to help schools across South Africa

The #CapitecColorRun takes a turn in Durban on 12 July

Capitec Bank brings The Color Run joy to runners and the children in their communities

02 July 2015 – Capitec Bank, the headline sponsor of The Color Run in South Africa, has announced that it will add even more joy to the festivities by adopting a school in every town where a run is happening this year.

Capitec Bank recently signed up to be the headline sponsor of the vibrant and colourful event series for the next three years. This year 12 events are taking place across South Africa. Port Elizabeth kicked off the fun in May and Durban’s Blue Lagoon Beach is coming up next on 12 July. “Capitec Bank is also proud to announce that we are partnering with Adopt-a-School Foundation to bring some goodwill to deserving schools in each town we’re visiting,” says Capitec Bank spokesman Charl Nel.

When Capitec Bank signed on to sponsor The Color Run, it committed to donating R10 for every ticket sold towards a good cause. Capitec Bank has now taken this a step further by also committing to a partnership with the Adopt-a-School Foundation to direct the money towards education in each festival town. The kids at Ndukwenhle High School in Umlazi Township Durban will be receiving stationery and books. Education is Capitec Bank’s chosen cause and Corporate Social Responsibility priority area.

The Adopt-a-School Foundation is a non-profit organisation that supports the creation and enhancement of a conducive learning and teaching environment in disadvantaged schools.

Event dates and recipient schools for the 10 remaining towns still need to be identified. The Color Run will visit Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Grahamstown, Hermanus, Jeffreys Bay, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Pretoria, Pietermaritzburg, Plettenberg Bay, Polokwane, Potchefstroom, Pretoria and Stellenbosch by early next year.

“We’re so happy about the opportunity to partner with a great organisation such as Adopt-a-School to help shine a light on their amazing work and to make a lasting impact on schools across South Africa,” says Nel.

“We share the need to give back to the community with the organisers of The Color Run and they are really happy to see that we’ve partnership with a great organisation such as Adopt-a-School to make this happen.”

The Color Run, presented by Capitec Bank, is a fun day out for the whole family and children under the age of 10 run for free.
