Every Child Deserves a Dictionary Campaign

Adopt-a-School Foundation is a proud beneficiary of the Oxford University Press ‘Every Child Deserves a Dictionary’ campaign which will see 20 000 dictionaries donated to adopted schools across South Africa. The campaign aims to create awareness around the value of education and language.

To date, 10 000 dictionaries have been distributed to schools in five provinces. Members of the public are encouraged to place a ‘pledge’ for another 10 000 dictionaries – without any cost to themselves. The dictionaries are aimed at Grades 4 to 9 and will be complemented with worksheets, manuals and in some instances, dictionary training workshops. In March, Adopt-a-School Foundation and Oxford University Press visited Mmugabo Primary School in Bodibe Village in the North West, to film a short video on the ‘Every Child Deserves a Dictionary’ campaign.  Watch the handover video here.
