Back to School for Mandela Day 2024
Back to School for a Day on Mandela Day is the Foundation’s annual initiative commemorating active citizenship, volunteerism, and organisations that stand on the front line, championing causes that remain crucial to our society.
Since 2012, our Back to School for Mandela Day initiative has seen our corporate partners go back to school and spend their 67 minutes supporting volunteer activities around our schools. These volunteer activities focus on the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s Whole School Development model to ensure holistic and sustainable change within our schools.
The Foundation calls upon corporates to partner with the Foundation and create a conducive teaching and learning environment at a school in Soweto.
The corporate package costs R35 000.00 for a maximum number of ten people.
Activities on the day (18 July 2024):

| Renovations of Library | Renovations of Combination Court |
| Vegetable Garden | Renovations of the Computer Laboratory |
| Packing of snacks | Financial literacy for learners |
The corporate package includes:
- A briefing session
- 67 minutes of volunteer activity per company (maximum of 10 people per company) at the designated school.
- 10 x AAS Back to School for a Day on Mandela Day T-shirts
- Light refreshments for the team
- Volunteer activations focusing on our Whole School Development model, including school renovations and learner engagements
