Celebrating the Mandela Centenary – Back to School for a Day on Mandela Day 2018

The Foundation, once again, hosted an amazing Back to School for a Day on Mandela Day on the 18 July 2018. This year, the Back to School for a Day collective went back to Tshilidzi Primary School which was also one of the first schools to be supported by Adopt-a-School Foundation. Back to School for a Day on Mandela Day 2018 revolved around mobilising corporates to visit the school and conduct infrastructure renovations, curricular and co-curricular activities, social welfare programmes and leadership development initiatives; all which complement the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s holistic Whole School Development model. Numerous donations were made by our partners, including over one thousand food packs donated to 100 orphaned and vulnerable learners, soccer and rugby kits, vegetable and fruit seedlings for the newly renovated and developed vegetable gardens, learner educational resources and lunch packs for all learners and guests.

On the day, the Foundation was supported by First Lady of South Africa Dr. Tshepo Motsepe as well as Miss South Africa and Julius Kgale, as well as teams from Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, Cell C, McDonalds, Fevertree Consulting, BMW, Phembani, Triviron, Toyota Tsusho Africa, Ntaba Nyoni Estates, Brainwaves, Touch Rugby Sundays, Ecoculture Sechaba Foundation, Prettify your Township, SAPS, Lesedi Power Project, ABC Management and SANCA whom shared both the their time, skills and physical resources.

Chief Executive Officer Message

Welcome to our first newsletter for the year. We are proud and excited to share with you all the activities from the last few months to date, encompassing our 20-year milestone celebrations and our matric results. It has been a busy time for the Foundation. We closed our 20-year celebrations at the beginning of this year, handing over school shoes to hundreds of learners. We have had multiple infrastructure handovers and have been delivering spectacles, hearing aids and ICT equipment to schools. Further, we were thrilled to host the Thari Biennial Conference for the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation and two fundraising initiatives, the Back to School Party and a fundraising dinner in London.
