Every school and centre in the Foundation's 2025/26 register — 165 adopted, 161 assisted and 17 early childhood development centres. That is 343 in total, of which 6 are recorded as closed or merged, leaving 337 currently being worked with. A further 451 schools are on the adoption waiting list — they have asked for support and are not yet funded. Source: AASF School Profiles 2025–2026. This register counts schools differently to our impact figures, so the two should not be read against each other. The 696 schools in our 2024/25 Annual Report is the audited total adopted since 2002 across the Foundation and the Kagiso Shanduka Trust, and is what the province totals on Our Footprint show. This register is a current-year snapshot: 337 schools and centres being worked with in 2025/26, plus 451 still waiting to be adopted. A province can therefore show more entries here than on the footprint map (most of them waiting-list schools) or fewer (schools adopted in earlier years).
