As we close out this remarkable year, I find myself both reflective and saddened as I share the news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Mr. Eric Ratshikhopha. A valued Member of the Adopt-a-School Foundation Board, Mr. Ratshikhopha’s unwavering commitment to our mission and his invaluable contributions will be deeply missed.

While we mourn this great loss, we also take this moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared this year. This edition of our newsletter highlights the impactful initiatives and partnerships that have shaped the work of the Adopt-a-School Foundation. Through progress, resilience, and growth, none of this would have been possible without your steadfast support. Together, we’ve made meaningful strides in transforming educational experiences, empowering school communities, and uplifting the future of South Africa’s learners.

One of this year’s defining moments was the success of our 15th Back to School Party, which raised over R7 million to provide essential resources to under-resourced schools. Events like these, combined with the implementation of Whole School Development, underscore the power of collaboration in creating lasting, positive change. From the handover of vital ICT equipment to the recognition of educators who have made extraordinary strides in their classrooms, every achievement has been made possible by the dedication and generosity of our stakeholders, partners, and supporters.

As we reflect on 2024, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you. Your efforts have directly impacted the lives of 1.6 million learners and educators, creating brighter futures across South Africa. Together, let us carry this momentum into the year ahead, continuing to inspire change, create opportunities, and build a brighter future for the children of South Africa.
