Dignity in every step at Lot Phalatse Primary

On a quiet morning on 25 March 2025 in the North West, 60 pairs of shoes from Sourcefin through the Adopt-a-School Foundation made a world of difference to Lot Phalatse Primary school learners. During the event, it was heartbreaking to witness some learners’ bare feet and others wearing worn-out takkies that were clearly intended for casual weekend use, highlighting the urgent need at this school.

What might seem like a small gesture was, for these children, a moment of dignity and joy. They were wearing shoes that fit, shoes with soles that didn’t let in the cold, shoes that said, “We are all equal, no matter the background.”

One child quietly whispered, “Now I won’t get teased anymore.” That is the power of kindness; it protects, uplifts, and restores.

The day commenced with a heartfelt welcome from a member of the School Governing Body (SGB), who articulated the deep gratitude felt by the entire school community for this substantial and transformative donation. The SGB member emphasised how such contributions are vital in uplifting the spirits and educational experiences of learners.

Principal Mr Marema addressed the gathering with profound sincerity, expressing his appreciation for Sourcefin and the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s kindness.

He underscored the significant impact of the donation, explaining that beyond simply providing essential footwear, this initiative fosters a sense of dignity and self-worth among learners. Mr. Marema remarked on how equipping the children with proper shoes instils confidence and enhances their motivation, empowering them to pursue their dreams and face their future with pride. These learners, still in their formative primary school years, are at a critical stage where such support lays a strong foundation for their academic and personal development.

Acts of kindness like this not only improve the quality of education but also inspire young minds to recognise their potential and strive for a brighter future. As we look ahead, it is crucial to remember that making a meaningful difference in the lives of these young learners is possible, one step, one act of kindness, at a time! Together, we can continue to foster hope and positive change in their lives. Thank you, Sourcefin, for helping our children walk with pride toward a better future.
