ICT Projects at schools supported by IDC and Adapt IT

The Foundation’s ICT programmes continue in thirteen schools funded by IDC and Adapt IT. The Foundation team adopted a three-pronged approach encompassing hybrid training, using mentors and the support of Desktop Support Technicians to implement the projects.  This ensured that the project timelines were met. The schools were pleased to have IDC participate in advocacy and accountability meetings with them.

The ICT programme continues to empower unemployed youth as Desktop Support Technicians in schools, creating temporary employment opportunities. The ICT training includes robotics and coding for learners. Further, the educators will receive skills and courses certified by MICT SETA on submission of their Portfolio of evidence.  We are delighted that some schools that have received this training have entered coding competitions, and Atlantis Secondary School, funded by IDC came first in a provincial coding competition.
