On the 12th and 13th of July the ITE’s from six IDC adopted schools, attended a face to face fast-tracking training on IT Essentials course and Coding sponsored by IDC. The workshop comprised of a 14 chapters summary and a two language coding sessions (Minecraft-Micro bits and Scratch), the delegates were also introduced and enrolled to cybersecurity, which is a short course that they will complete online over a period of six months. The two-day training took place at the Mercury Hotel at Randburg in Johannesburg.

The ITE’s are recruited from within the school communities and are mandated to provide IT support services to the school ensuring the ICT programme remains sustainable after implementation. IDC provides these ITE’s with a monthly stipend and training opportunities equipping them with the necessary skills required for IT support.
