Welcome to our May newsletter of 2025! As the year unfolds, we are excited to embark on a journey filled with inspiring projects, continued growth, and renewed purpose. Our dedicated team is already off to a strong start, setting the tone for what promises to be a remarkable year.

As part of our 2030 sustainability roadmap, we are excited to share recent structural changes that strengthen our team and position us for greater impact. On 1 March, we welcome Zelda Jacobs in her new role of Senior Communications Manager, followed by the return of Nonhlanhla Baloyi as Corporate Services Executive on 1 April, now leading the Quantity Survey, Monitoring and Evaluation, Administration Support, and IT departments. On 1 May, we welcomed our new Quantity Survey Manager, and on 1 June, we look forward to welcoming our Senior Fundraising Manager. These appointments reflect our ongoing commitment to building a strong, purpose-driven team for long-term success.

In this edition, we highlight our impactful handovers at various schools, where school shoes and uniforms were donated, ensuring that learners returned to school prepared and confident. In our commitment to fostering accessibility to education, we also provided bicycles to selected learners, significantly reducing transportation barriers and encouraging consistent school attendance. These initiatives are a testament to our ongoing commitment to making education more accessible.

We were especially honoured to accompany Mr. Kennedy G Bungane, CEO of African Bank, as he visited six schools nationwide to unveil new infrastructure. These upgrades included newly built classrooms, dining and nutrition centres, a Grade R facility, renovated learning spaces, ablution blocks, as well as uniforms and stationery. These enhancements are not just buildings—they represent a foundation for brighter futures.

This year also marks an exciting chapter of growth within our organisation. We have welcomed new team members, celebrated well-earned promotions, and embraced transitions from our valued partner, the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation. I extend heartfelt congratulations to everyone who has stepped into new roles. Your dedication and contributions continue to strengthen our Foundation and reflect the spirit of unity we hold dear.

Our recent team building event in March was both energising and inspiring, reinforcing our shared commitment as we moved into the third quarter of our financial year. I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your unwavering passion and perseverance in driving our mission forward.

Having successfully concluded our Sustainability Roadmap toward 2024, we are now moving full steam ahead with our Sustainability Roadmap toward 2030. This new phase presents an incredible opportunity for deeper collaboration and innovative partnerships, all in pursuit of long-lasting impact. We are truly grateful to our donors and partners; you are the cornerstone of the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s work.

Looking ahead, we remain optimistic about what 2025 holds. With the adoption of 14 new schools and strengthened ties with both new and long-standing partners, we are poised for a year of meaningful growth and transformation.

Together, let us continue to create a powerful and lasting difference in the lives of our learners.

Warm regards,
Steven Lebere
