Another exciting few months have passed and I’m delighted to share some of our latest news with you.

On 24 June 2016, Adopt-a-School Foundation held its first ever fundraising gala dinner in Durban. The event, sponsored by Sibaya Community Trust and hosted by our Chairman Cyril Ramaphosa, raised over R5 million for 2016 and a further R4 million for 2017-2018.

The exclusive dinner saw over 350 guests and supporters raising money for education programmes run by Adopt-a-School Foundation. We are tremendously grateful for the wonderful generosity from our Durban supporters and to Sibaya Community Trust and Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation for sponsoring the event.

Adopt-a-School Foundation has worked in over 50 schools in KwaZulu-Natal and continues to strive for excellence and improve the learning and teaching conditions in disadvantaged schools throughout southern Africa.

The Durban fundraiser precedes the annual Johannesburg Back to School Party fundraiser which will be held on 29 October. This year the party celebrates its 10th anniversary.

On 1 September we are hosting the second Back to School Party for the KST’s Free State Whole School Development programme in Bloemfontein.

To support either of these events please contact Colleen Forrester.

We also welcome our new adopters to the programme, Fortunate Kunene Brothers, who have adopted the Fortune Kunene Primary School in Vosloorus. We look forward to a lasting and impactful partnership.

I trust you will enjoy our quarterly newsletter.
