On 2nd November 2024, the Adopt-a-School Foundation, in partnership with Merafe Resources, handed over spectacles to 68 learners at Boitekong II Secondary School in Rustenburg, providing essential support to learners with impaired vision. The event was a joyous occasion for the learners and their parents/guardians, who witnessed their children receiving the gift of improved vision.

The 68 learners were selected from over 1,230 who underwent comprehensive eye screenings conducted by Dr. Dire, a dedicated optometrist, between 8 and 12 October 2024. Two learners experienced minor allergic reactions during the process and were promptly treated.

Ms. Rasemola, the Circuit Manager, expressed her gratitude, saying, “This initiative would not have been possible without the support of the Adopt-a-School Foundation and Merafe Resources.” She encouraged the learners to use their new spectacles to enhance their education, urging them to “read, learn, and grow — not just for social media content.”

This initiative exemplifies the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s commitment to enhancing teaching and learning environments in disadvantaged schools, improving the lives of 68 learners and supporting their educational journeys.
