Commemorating World Mental Health Day on 10 October, The Thari Programme, a project of the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation in partnership with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), hosted Exam Stress Talk with the over 400 Grade 10 -12 learners at Diepsloot Combined School. The aim of the talk was to identify the signs of stress, especially exam related stress, understanding panic and anxiety as well as how to develop coping mechanisms in order to better handle stress.

On 9 October, Adopt-a-School Foundation was also featured live on SABC 1 through a YoTV youth programme and Programme Manager, Bernice Maponyane was interviewed on coping with stress and anxiety. October being a highly stressful assessment period for learners and students across the country, we hope to have impacted and empower our nation’s youth with knowledge around anxiety issues.
