Fortunate Rangwaneni from Tshivase Secondary School in Vhembe, Limpopo achieved seven distinctions in her matric year. She grew up in the Mbilwi Village some two hours from Vhembe and she would wake up at midnight to study before getting ready to catch her 5am transport to school.
Shanduka Foundation’s Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust has awarded Fortunate a full bursary to further her education through a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Johannesburg.
“I am passionate about learning. I read anything I can get my hands on. South Africa needs skilled professionals in accounting and I want to play my part.”

Busisiwe Dube matriculated at the age of 16 from Moses Maren Mission Secondary School in Eikenhof, Gauteng. Despite coming from an impoverished background, she has excelled throughout her school career and has been awarded a bursary by the Cell C Foundation to study engineering at Tswane University.
“I love science and I know engineering can be a well-paid profession. I can’t live my whole life in a squatter camp and I want to study something that I love and which will allow me to one day build a real home for my mother and my sisters.”

Busisiwe Dumezweni from King Shaka High School in Durban earned two distinctions and a place at the University of KwaZulu Natal to study chemical engineering. Grindrod, the corporate adopter for King Shaka High School is sponsoring a full bursary for Busisiwe through the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust.
