Green building and energy efficient BuildingsĀ

The built environment has seen substantial change through modern technologies and new innovative ways of design and engineering. Thus, this has mainly been embraced with the introduction of Green and energy-saving efficient buildings, which may impact how we construct buildings to incorporate environmentally friendly buildings that use natural energy.

This also paves the way for more sustainable long-term solutions to enhance sustainable buildings in our schools and to take advantage of the benefits modern technologies have to offer in the modern error.

The Foundation has incorporated new technologies to improve the facilities in our schools by introducing Energy efficiency and saving, green building technology buildings, Innovative designs, and Waterless Systems in disadvantaged schools.

Innovative designs save energy and improve the internal and external environments of buildings by creating a more conducive environment.

We have used and still use innovative ways to save the cost of electricity in schools, such as using Solar systems, implementing Solar boreholes, and using Solar pumps.

Through a thoughtful and strategic approach, the school is incorporating designs into the infrastructure projects with an eye toward cost efficiency, practicality, and ease of maintenance.

The new building designs are focused on using Natural energy efficiently by implementing the following designs:

High Ceilings

  • This creates a natural ventilation system and creates a spacious environment in the building.Ā
  • It also improves the thermal insulation in buildings, which leads to reducing the usage of air conditioning and creating a cooling system during the hot summer weather.

Polycarbonate Roof Sheets

  • These assist by allowing natural light to penetrate through the sheeting, decreasing the need for artificial light, and reducing the use of thermal insulation in buildings.

Epoxy Floors

  • This allows for a smooth finish to buildings.
  • Allows for the natural light to reflect, which assists in the brightness of the building.
  • It is easier to maintain and clean.
  • And has longer durabilityĀ and improves ventilation.

Large Windows

  • Improves ventilation.Ā
  • Increases the natural light and brightness.

Incorporating green building and innovative design technology into our infrastructure projects has been well underway. Our efforts towards innovative designs and green building technology incorporating energy-efficient buildings and waterless systems are a step towards creating a better world for future generations.

Thus far, the Foundation has built over 50% of structures using water and energy-efficient solutions, energy-saving LED lights, oversized windows to provide more natural lighting, and thermal insulation in buildings to reduce the need for air conditioning.

Additionally, in water-challenged schools, we have erected solar boreholes to ensure schools have access to water during load shedding.Ā

Furthermore, we installed water purification and filtration systems to provide access to clean drinkable water.
