Welcome to the Adopt-a-School Foundation Newsletter. We are thrilled to share our activities from January to March, which involve implementing Whole School Development in adopted schools.

We began the year with the great testament of our Whole School Development model through the outstanding performance of our Matric Class of 2023.  The Matric Class of 2023 from our adopted schools achieved a pass rate of 85.0%, a 3% improvement from the 82.0% achieved by the Matric Class of 2022. The overall matric performance improved by 13.4% compared to the baseline, from 71.6% in 2010 to 85% in 2023. The Whole School Development model has demonstrated its success through matric results year after year. The ability to sustain good passes indicates the sustainability of our model and interventions under Whole School Development.  We are proud of our progress over the years, and we look forward to more adopted schools improving results as we transform schools into conducive learning environments.

We continue striving to achieve our vision and mission with the marvellous support of donors and partners.  In the past quarter, we began training at Mante Primary School in Mpumalanga, funded by Enaex. We were also delighted to hand over an ablution block to Thembinkosi LSEN, funded by African Bank, commemorated Read Aloud Day with Sasria at Lot Phalatse Primary School as part of our literacy and numeracy programme. Additionally, we concluded our Green Building Technology Dining and Nutrition Centre at Fukama Primary School, funded by African Bank and hosted a Moral Regeneration Camp funded by Merafe Resources for Meriti and Boitekong Secondary Schools.

This year marked the last year of implementing our Sustainability Roadmap toward 2024, and we are proud of what the Foundation has achieved through this strategy. We were able to formulate innovative ideas, adapting our models to new needs that emerged in our schools. This would not have been possible without the continued support of our donors. I want to applaud our donors and partners for their continuous commitment and investment in education. Further, I thank the Adopt-a-School Foundation board and team for their hard work and passion in implementing our Sustainability Roadmap toward 2024. We look forward to implementing our Sustainability Roadmap toward 2030, which will be shared through this platform in due course.
