On 21 October, over 65 countries around the globe participated in Global Dignity activities as part of a movement that aims to nurture a sense of dignity in young people around the world – encouraging them to both live a dignified life and help others to lead a dignified lives. Phuti Mahanyele, CEO of Shanduka Group, is the Country Chair for this global initiative and is committed to visiting disadvantaged rural schools to promote these values in our youth.

This year, Mahanyele visited Modilati Secondary School, in a rural township called Hammanskraal in the outskirts of Pretoria/Tswane. Mahanyele said that “learners must always aspire to be the best they could in life notwithstanding their social backgrounds.” She encouraged learners to adhere to strong values, work hard in their subjects and look forward to achieving the best in life so that one day they can give back to their communities. Mr Mpofu, Modilati School Principal shared how proud he was to host Mahanyele at his school. Mahanyele was very impressed and expressed her willingness to support the school in its endeavours to remain a centre of excellence in the Hammanskraal community.
