Welcome to our April Newsletter. We trust you will enjoy it and appreciate some of the milestones achieved in the first quarter. We started the year on a celebratory note as we showcased the successes of our Matric Class of 2021, who did well despite the significant challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 was a difficult year for both the Foundation and the country. Despite the challenges faced, we experienced numerous successes and achieved multiple milestones. We continued to deliver on all our programmes, to ensure the successful delivery of learning and teaching in our adopted schools. We entered into 2022, with much excitement as the Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary. We look forward to a series of events and initiatives to commemorate this significant milestone.

South Africa observed Human Rights Day on March 21. I want to thank our donors and partners who are working hard to ensure that one of the most fundamental human rights, education, is delivered to the communities we serve.

We are deeply saddened by the recent tragic floods that have swept through KwaZulu-Natal. Many lives have been lost and communities devastated. Our heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, and we wish a speedy recovery to all those injured.

This year we will be hosting our annual Back to School for Mandela Day on 18 July. Our campaign aims to gift a pair of school shoes to as many learners in need as possible.
