Sixteen Schools Benefit from the MICT SETA ICT Programme

The Foundation offers an ICT programme which is rolled out as part of its Curriculum Delivery pillar, under its Whole School Development model. The ICT programme is a two-year programme that seeks to integrate technology into teaching and learning by engaging and empowering the school’s leadership team and educators through a MICT SETA accredited End-User Computing programme.

The ICT programme promotes effective and efficient use of technology and media centres in schools. The programme also employs a community-based Desktop Support Technician, to provide IT support to the school. Through the partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the ICT programme has capacitated 30 schools, staggered into various phases since 2016.

In 2021, the Foundation wrapped up phase three of the programme consisting of eight schools. Namely, Boithaopo Secondary School in Northwest, Glen Cowie Secondary School in Limpopo, Lehlasedi Secondary School in Mpumalanga, Kgabareng and Ngwathe Secondary Schools, Ntsoanatsatsi Primary School in Free State, Kgomotso Secondary School in Northern Cape, and Siwali Secondary School in Eastern Cape.

Phases three and four of the ICT programme benefitted 439 school personnel. Phase four included another eight schools: Moses Maren Mission Technical Secondary School, Zikhethele Secondary School and Nomnekane Primary School in Gauteng, Parkview Primary School, Atlantis and Thandokhulu secondary schools in Western Cape, and Mariazel Mission Secondary School and Nkonkwana Primary School in Eastern Cape.
