On the 23rd of April 2022, Child and Youth Care Workers hosted a day-long scrabble and chess competition at the Safe Park. The competition was developed to encourage learner participation in scrabble and chess. These games are played within the Thari Programme schools. The Thari Programme promotes scrabble and chess as it helps learners improve writing and reading skills. Over 100 learners took part in the competition, with learners bussed in from the eight schools. All participants received gold medals and the winners received a roving trophy. The school Principals, and school teams, supported the event and handed trophies and medals to the winning schools and participants. The Botshabelo Moral Regeneration Forum members assisted with coaching learners. The forum consists of service providers from government departments and local NGOs.
